Hear us out, while we might not be meteorologists, Jordan has specific times and activities that can be curated all year round and while summer is definitely the hot spot (literally) to visit the country, you might want to consider some other times as well so you can get the full experience? Here are the best times to visit Jordan and some destinations you don’t want to miss during that time!

While the temperatures above show some consistency, it is important to note that due to elevation and different bio-geographical conditions, you may feel the temperatures differently.
Jordan is a place that can be visited all year round, if you are good at planning what activities you want to do. Jordan has four bioclimatic or biogeographical regions.
They are: The Mediterranean, Irano-Turanian, Saharo-Arabian and Sudanian. Dana Biosphere is one of the most interesting places to visit in Jordan as it holds all four.
Jordan also has many areas where you can venture, whether it is borderline, river, wadi, main locality or ocean side.
A Warm Winter Wonderland?
In the winter season, if you want to experience a warm winter wonderland, the South of Jordan is one of the best places to visit. If you refer to the chart above, you will see that while the winter does get cold in Jordan, especially in Amman and may even get some snow, to many people’s surprise. The south of Jordan tends to stay warmer.
Imagine laying on the beaches of Aqaba and sending pictures to your friends back home who are huddled by fireplaces and layered in clothing, they might get just a tad jealous.
Since winter is the low season in Jordan, you may also find that most of the popular tourist places in the South, like Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba are not filled with tourists, which can be more pleasant while visiting.
You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy some lower costs when it comes to airfare and accommodation. Scuba diving in Aqaba and luxury hotels tend to be cheaper, so it might be a fun way to experience activities and splurge without breaking the bank.
You can also take a dip in the Dead Sea that stays warm year round and has many therapeutic effects. Since the Dead Sea is the lowest elevation point on earth, the climate tends to stay warm all year round, even in the winter. It has even been speculated that it gets warmer in the winter than in the Summer.
As far as gastronomy, Jordanians take pride in their winter delights. Just don’t be surprised when you don’t find ice cream. Jordanians are keen on their seasonal food, so to many outsiders this might come as a surprise.
For seasonal foods in the winter there is nothing more delicious than mansaf, falafel, hummus, lentil soup, makloubeh and sahlab to name a few.
Just be aware that the temperatures drop in the evening so bring warm clothing for the evening time to stay comfortable.
The Hills are Alive in The Springtime
The Spring is Jordan has Sprung and the North is alive with its greenery.
Beginning in March and lasting until May, Jordan in the spring is an ideal time to come visit the country if you’re an avid hiker or someone who is highly interested in flora and fauna.
The Spring in Jordan has comfortable temperatures in the daytime and the evening with less rainfall.
It is also the best time to visit the North of Jordan, for a beautiful green naturescape. The flora and fauna in Jordan are booming during the spring time and you can witness the infamous Black Iris, which is indigenous to the land.
You will also find that most families in the Spring take an opportunity to go hiking or picnicking, taking delicious food, having quality time and with plenty of music at hand.

Summertime and The Livin is Easy
Summer in Jordan is certainly the hottest and the highest season of the year. Pre-pandemic, there used to be almost 5.4 million visitors, mostly visiting in the summer. The country itself has almost over 10 million people.
However, with many destinations, Jordan included, sadly these numbers have decreased over the years, due to the pandemic.
Even with that, Summer stills see more tourists than any other season and therefore, can make many destination tourist sites more expensive when it comes to flight and accommodations.
Since many locals are looking forward to escaping the city summer heat, many hotels highlight locals and travelers alike at the dead sea, where overnight stays and lounging by the pool are popular.
Some of the more popular sites, like Petra and Wadi Rum are certainly hotter during the daytime, but still doable if you want to visit and there is no other time than the summer to come to Jordan.
Just make sure you pack lighter clothes for trekking in the daytime and maybe a light jacket in the evening.
But, summer in Jordan is really the time to go visit the famous wadis. Wadi, roughly translating to valley or channel, is one of the most popular things to do during the summer in Jordan.
Canyoning and taking a dip in one of Jordan’s beautiful canyons will most certainly make you feel like you’re out of an Indiana Jones movie or even Tomb Raiders.
